Operation- When the snatch block of the crane reaches its top position the snatch boxes pushes a plate which is hanging from one end of the lever of the limit switches. due to the weight placed on the other end of the lever, this lever is pushed up. when the lever is pushed up the shaft to which this lever is connected rotates there by rotating the cams which eventually open the contacts.

Construction:
The switch contains six cam operated switch elements which are used as auxiliary circuit limit switches (see switching sequence diagram). The dimension drawing shows that the switch has two shaft which must be driven by the holding and closing winches. The contact of the limit switches are 40 Amp rated at 500 V.AC
Mode of Operation:
The switches N 5, N 6 are limit switches for the highest and lowest grab position. The ‘Grab closed’ and ‘Grab open’ limit position are monitored by the switches N 1 and N 4, whereas N 2 and N 3 initiate the switching operation for single lever grab control
